Salah thoughts

10 10 2007

You know…. I’ve just noticed something. In a day when you don’t miss any prayers whatsoever and do them all perfectly…. or actually, as CLOSE to perfectly as possible, the day goes by smoothly and nicely with next to no stress. I mean, not that there are other problems but, I’m just saying that if the salah is done nicely throughout the day, the day doesn’t seem so bad.

On the days when some salahs (or worse, ALL salahs) are missed, you have added stress, piling up of guilt added to your stress because you missed the salahs, the day goes by so fast, and you have a sense of not accomplishing anything. You feel like you’ve failed, for some reason. It feels as if that day was not satisfactory.

Now, I can’t tell you if this is a theory or not. If I tell you that this is for real, then I know that you would want me to prove it. But I can’t prove it, since I can’t tell you to try it out for yourself. I don’t ever want anybody missing prayers just to see if what I said is true or not. I’m just saying what I experienced. Under no circumstances should any miss a prayer. Unless you have an extremely valid reason that Allah can excuse you with (ie. war, lying unconscious, bleeding profusedly, etc. etc. You get the idea. Something extreme. Nothing more, nothing less.).

I love salah. I really really really do. But I’m kind of jealous that the angels are able to do salah with the greatest ease. To some people, it seems like the hardest thing to do. And you know what? It’s something that only takes up about an hour of your entire 24-hour day. So my question is: why the heck is offering obligatory salah so HARD!? Allah made it peaceful, nice, easy, short, etc. so why is it so darn hard? Laziness? Excuses? No sir.
